Longchamp has a long and rich history dating back to 1948, when it was founded by Jean Cassegrain. This brand ranks as one of the leading brand names of French leather goods. While their totes and handbags are very popular now, they started as a small leather goods company and eventually grew into a bag fashion empire.
Their website offers an extensive range of different products – from small leather goods to your favorite luxurious leather bags. They have products for both men and women, and there is wide variety of shoes, bags and other accessories from the classics to their newest collections. However, not all of their products can be customized. The Longchamp Le Pliage and Le Cabas, two of their most popular releases, are the only bags that can be customized as of now. For Le Cabas, prices range from $95 – $610. Le Pliage bags are priced at $60 – $185.
The Longchamp website has a professional and streamlined layout. Their ‘design your bag’ application has a quick and easy 4-step process that anyone can do. You will be able to customize the colors of the bag and there are virtually countless of color combinations that you can do but the colors are only applied to the stripe and main body of the bag. You also have the option of choosing nickel, bronze and golden for the metallic accessories. Unfortunately, there is no option to customize the lining but you can add your initials or name by embroidery, which costs an additional $15, or embossing for an extra $7.50. For Le Cabas, the lining and leather can be customized. Initials can also be added on the front of the bag for an extra $10.
Production and delivery time for custom-made Longchamp bags take approximately 3 weeks. The company has a repair policy and for a limited time period, they can repair, replace or issue a store credit on a damaged bag. Custom bags however, need to be directed to customer service.
We have no doubt about the quality of Longchamp bags. The prices for custom Le Cabas and Le Pliage are very reasonable compared to other designer bags, and their trouble-free design application makes customization very easy and enjoyable. We only hope that in the future, more bag models would become available for customization too.
